Support Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. There are some special ladies out there who have overcome Breast Cancer, and in honor of them, I wanted to make sure all you makeup junkies know what companies support the program with donations after your purchases.

My #1 pick is the Clarisonic.

Clarisonic supports Look Good…Feel Better. With every Pink Clarisonic purchase, they will make a donation to help women with cancer look and feel like themselves again.

Clarisonic has changed how I view "clean" skin. I can imagine most of you don't wash your face before bedtime, don't have a "routine", or just use makeup wipes...CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT YOUR SKIN LOOKS LIKE WITH MAKEUP, WASHING WITH YOUR HANDS, AND WASHING WITH A CLARISONIC. YIKES! Enough said, right!!?

This is a gentle, yet effective daily exfoliation. The tool is waterproof (I leave mine in the shower.) Squeeze your facial cleanser onto the brush head, press the start button and clean away. It's benefits include: circulation, deeper penetration of Vitamin C, removal of any oils or debris in pores, and wrinkle reduction. Makeup looks fresher and lasts longer on your skin. Try the Plus, because you can also use it on your body!

Other companies to look at:
Sephora
Bobbi Brown
Jane Iredale
Clinique
Shiseido
Estee Lauder
Creme de la Mer

Giants Fever

I'm always down for "team spirit" yelling, cheering, and getting pumped up with a crowd...I love any option to dress up and get out of my normal routine. Makeup is the classiest way to "dress" up if you have to work, or still want to look sexy for the event. For all of you SF Giants fans out there, here are a few products to show a little Baseball spirit:

Orange Eyeshadow: Follow your Fantasy, MAC's Limited Holiday Collection A Tartan Tale
Orange Blush:Orgasm, by NARS
Orange Lipstick:YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lip Color spf 15, No. 13 Le Orange.
Orange Lip gloss: Heat Wave, by Laura Mercier.
Orange Nail Polish:Orange Fizz, By Chanel.
Black Nail Polish:Nocturnelle, By MAC
Black Eyeliner:Christian Dior Liquid Liner in Black

Enjoy!

Fall into 2010 Trends

Readers, here is a low down on this Fall's 2010 Makeup Trends. Below I have included some recommendations on how to achieve these fashion forward looks.

Bold Brows: MAC 266 small angle brush and MAC eye shadow that compliments your hair color. I like to wet my brush first and outline the bottom to create structure and length.

Multidimensional Smokey Eye, using BLUE, GREEN, BROWN: Smudge Smashbox Cream liner in Caviar all over lid to make it an intense statement, set it with NARS Trio Okinawa (Darkest color starts at lash line, and blend to lightest as you fade into the crease.)

Winged Eyeliner:
Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black Ink. MAC's 266 brush is good for this look as well.

Nude Lips:MAC Myth Lipstick, or YSL's "003" Ultimate Nude...
Red Lips:Christina Aguilera's trademark, Russian Red by MAC
Deep Purple Lips: Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Black Maple

Futuristic Nails:Lancome Le Gris L'Wren
Soft Clean Skin:Christian Dior Diorskin AirFlash Spray Foundation
Light Blush:NARS Zen Blush
Messy Hair:Unite Boosta Volumizing Spray

No more greasy, creasy eyelids!

Every woman needs a quality eye shadow primer. I feel like I have a new favorite primer every year... so this year I choose Lancôme's 'Aquatique' Waterproof EyeColour Base ($24.50). It absorbs oil to eliminate movement or creasing at the end of a fabulous night. To get the most out of this eyeshadow primer, use your finger to warm the product up with a circular motion, than apply to entire eyelid and under brow. There is no color so this will work for any skin tone: however, it will fade a small amount of discoloration on the eyelid. Another option, is to next apply MAC's paint pot in painterly ($16.50) over the primer. Paint pots are highly pigmented eye colors that go on creamy but dry to an intense, vibrant finish. Use a cream shadow brush to apply MAC's paint pot. The reason I suggest Painterly, is because it will eradicate all purple, blue or green in eye lid...therefore letting your powder shadows show off their true colors! Painterly is a nice trick for a lazy day to quickly give your eyes a pick me up. It is not necessary to use both products, so test out one at first, play around with it to see what you really need.

Let me know how long your shadow lasts after using these products!

First things First

I have jumped the gun on my makeup advice, since we've gone over some fun stuff let's get down to business with some makeup essentials: Facial Primer!

Oily skin, pores, fine lines, dry flaky skin...sound like one of your concerns? Does your makeup move, or absorb during the day? There are solutions besides finding the appropriate cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer. The quickest solution is Smashbox Primer. Click here to find the right one for your concerns. My favorite is the Photo Finish Light. The texture is creamy, it doesn't absorb too fast, never rolls, and it feels super light weight. Some primers that feel too light make me feel like I'm adding a step for no reason, photo finish light gives me the confidence that this step is essential.

Here are steps to a great day with no need for a touch up at lunch time:

1. wash face
2. tone skin
3. serum
4. eye cream
5. moisturizer
6. get some spf somewhere, either moisturizer or foundation...
7. PRIMER...one or maybe two pumps, use your hands, and spread on entire face
8. foundation... and rest of makeup application necessary

Smashbox primer has some helpful ingredients for maintaining a flawless face:
Here are my top 3 picks:
1.Obviously Photo Finish light-Oil free, water base filled with Vitamins and peptides
2.Photo Finish Primer SPF with DERMAXYL COMPLEX- clinically proven to reduce wrinkles
3.Photo Finish Adjust Green-soy and lemon grass to soothe redness

This is great for a long day, wedding, photo shoot... or if you have no time to touch up. Enjoy this savory product-next we'll talk about eye primers...

Waking up in Vegas

As you can tell, I thrive off of color. Anything that hasn't been done before on the color wheel excites me. Sometimes it's hard to execute a sophisticated look with too much vibrancy...however it can be done! This past season I have really gravitated to muted tones, they're intriguing and can be so fashion forward. Nail Polish is a great way to show off your style and bring something different to your daily routine...after a pedicure and manicure I always feel relaxed and yes, a little fancy.

Check out Deborah Lippmann's collection of nail products. She is an entrepreneur who became quite successful in her career as a manicurist. Her passion for jazz music is depicted in her names for her nail lacquers. Cute and fun as they are, the product is actually really healthy for your nail. Personally, I enjoy that it doesn't chip off or discolor my nails. The price point is great too $16.

Waking up in Vegas is a must have for every gal who loves fashion, makeup, and accessorizing. It's simple, but people will definitely notice your nails! Recently, Lady Gaga was seen on the Vanity Fair Cover flaunting this gray nail polish. Let me know what you think of Waking up in Vegas. What are your favorite colors this season?
