Hume = Happiness

August has been a very busy month for me, so it's been tough keeping up with posting on a regular basis. It's wedding season, we recently moved to a new place, annnnd I celebrated my 1 year anniversary with my hubby! I feel like we just got married! Soon-to-be-Mrs listen up-enjoy every moment of planning your wedding...indulge in the details, take joy in the mishaps of the preparation, and on your day stand still and soak it all in! The day ends SO fast. I wasn't expecting a whole year to fly by just as quick as my wedding day, so enjoy your first year of marriage to the fullest!! I guess the saying is true, time flies when you are having fun.

James and I met at Hume Lake years ago, so it was only appropriate we spend our first anniversary in this beautiful place. Ever girl squeals over her Summer Camp crush, so to come back with a husband and relive those butterflies was so fun. We hiked to the cove, played volleyball & frisbee golf, rented paddle boards to absorb the beauty of the lake, enjoyed milkshakes, sat by a campfire...sigh and just soaked in the beauty of the trees.

Living Proof Shampoo & Conditioner. Kiehl's Acai Damage-Minimizing Cleanser. Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer & Eye Basic in Buff. Dior Lip Maximizer.
I packed very light, but thought it was the perfect time to try out my Living Proof Shampoo and Conditioner. I was skeptical...I have tried some other products in the past and they didn't work for my hair. I was pleasantly surprised with these 2 choices, the results were great! When you travel to new heights, your hair reacts strangely, but my hair was soft, healthy, and not frizzy at all. Also, when I took out my pony tail, the hair was less crimped than normal!

As we were moving, I found Kiehl's Acai Damage-Minimizing Cleanser. Perfect for our trip!  I felt one with nature using such an organic based product. It is so important to find products that can target all concerns. I felt this completed the task controlling my oily skin, while preventing signs of aging in my skin. I also appreciated the foam texture.

Choose a lighter tone for your manicure, and a darker hue for your pedicure!

Our view during breakfast!
What did you do for your first wedding anniversary????

Canada meets San Francisco

The internet is such a crazy thing... While it connects us in mere seconds, it can lead to some of the best and longest friendships for years to come. Kim Thomas, a Canadian photographer was searching the internet and stumbled across my gal Ashley Batz. They became friends from afar, and when Kim came to San Francisco I too was able to meet her and had the honor of working with her for her first visit!

We invited Haley, Miss Teen San Jose, and my baby sister to model. I styled the gals outfits, did hair, and finished with some makeup of course. (I used an intense berry blush and it shows up so dramatically beautiful in the images!)

I ran back and forth between the two photographers touching up gloss...moving hair... as one shot Phylicia and the other shot Haley! SO FUN!

Congratulations Jennifer!

I adore Jennifer, and I am positive you will too after you see these photos taken by Michael's Wedding Group. She is one of my dear friends, and being part of her wedding memories was so special for me. The wedding atmosphere was warm, and she was beyond beautiful. Let's just say... I cried after I finished her makeup. Yikes talk about emotions! I couldn't help it, maybe it was the fact that she was my friend or maybe it was the fact that I felt I reached a new limit of artistry with this gorgeous gal. Whatever the reason, I will never forget the moment!

Mothers of the Bride are always the most fun for me, so thank you Celine for allowing me to doll you up for the day!

Shall we dance?

I love meeting new friends, because they always introduce you to other new friends! I feel like "networking" normally leads to inspiring friendships, people who push you to be a better person because they carry the same passion for the industry of art.

While Ashley Batz and I have known each other for only a few months, we have already collaborated on a variety of photo shoots. She introduced me to Kiera Lloyd, a darling dancer who needed some updated head shots for her studio. It's always nice when you walk into someone's home that you have never met and instantly are able to have a seamless conversation...I love learning about my client's background, what they do for fun, and their future dreams.

I was enchanted by Kiera's flawless skin, I told her she should be a Free People model!! Right?? While I dolled her up with neutral makeup colors and curled her hair, I was mostly captivated with her laugh. It was happy, it was contagious, and it was genuine.

Ashely seems to snap the photo at the perfect moment during their session together, and has captured some wonderfully graceful movements by Kiera.

Enjoy

Casual Memories

The other day my hubby and I went to have dinner at our newly married   friends' home. We had a wonderful meal, spent hours contemplating   their new furniture placement, and most of all enjoyed each others company. It was a great night, where we all created happy memories together. It's  always fun having a place to go, an event  to get dolled up for, especially when it's with great friends!

I  decided to stay casual with my clothing sine we were going to a friend's  home, but dressed up with a bold jade necklace! I kept my makeup fresh  and clean! I also lined my bottom lash and filled my water line with MAC's  eye Kohl pencil in Fascinating. Just like this look here, I added some flair to my bottom lash line by pressing a lime colored shadow over the white pencil; starting with a white base allows the green color to show  up brighter, and last longer!!

Sometimes the best memories are made in the most comfortable and casual places, sometimes the simplest additions to your makeup make people remember you...
