The Perfect Eyebrows

Do you have a "trademark", something that people recognize you for? One of my trademarks would have to be my eyebrows, and honestly without my eyebrows I just don't feel the same! I feel a little uncomfortable when they are not filled in and groomed properly.
It's a make or break the face kinda thing. Without realizing it, you can make yourself look angry, sad, or surprised depending on your eyebrow shape. With that being said, brow shaping must be done correctly according to the structure of your face. First things first, check these 3 points to ensure your eyebrows start, arch, and end in the correct places according to your personal facial features.
You will need a straight object to help guide your "lines".
1. Where should the brow start? The edge of your nose should line up with the inside corner of your eye...and that's where the beginning of your brow should be.

2. How to get the perfect arch? Create an imaginary line...start from the bow of your lip, line it up with the edge of your nose...where does it end? It should end at the highest point of your brow, which is your arch. If it's not there, you can grow/pluck or fill in accordingly.

3. Where does the brow end? Angle your "straight object" from the bow of your lip, line it up with the edge of the nose and the outside corner of the eye.

Brow trends change season to season, but full brows seem to be sticking around!! In the past, sharp and defined brows were in style... If you are like me, and you over plucked in the early '90's you may be dealing with some sparse areas. My brows do not grow quickly, and when they do grow it is spotty, so I must fill in the gaps.

I use Christian Dior's Universal Brow Styler to connect my arch, it's a one color fits all, it warms up to your skin so you will always have the most natural color! It has a wax texture on first application, but once your soften it into the skin it becomes more like a powder. Afterwards, I set my brows with Bobbi Brown's Brow Powder with a thick and firm brow brush.

Here are a few tools/brushes I choose to use on a daily basis:

1. MAC's #266 brush has the perfect angle, and is very thin for a precise application.
2. Smashbox's #12 angled brush is stiff and firm for a softer look and great for blending product into the skin for a more natural look.
3. I brush my hair upwards with MAC's #204 Lash Brush

Depending on your preference, and how much time you have to get ready... Brow gel is the fastest application and they are great for hair that has its own agenda, its also great to hide those stubborn little grey hairs! Pencils are the next in ease, but may take a few more seconds for precision. Powder may seem like the most time consuming, however you have more flexibility with the product, resulting in a more natural finish. Waxes are also an option and can add durability to the length of the product during a lengthy (warm) day.

Now who is rocking the big and bold brows this season???

StiVectin-AR (NIA-114 + Retinol)

Skincare companies claim to change your life, and if you have been following my blog from the beginning you know I am a skeptic to most claims. But I also don't talk about anything on this blog if I don't believe it works. While I may be a skeptic, this blog is a place for positive words only. With that being said, StriVectin's Advanced Retinol Night Treatment is officially amazing my friends!

1.What is StriVectin-AR? Combination of two powerful anti-aging actives, clinically proven NIA-114 (bioactive form of Niacin or Vitamin B3) molecule and Retinol.

2.Directions: Use nightly on clean, dry skin, apply over entire face or concentrate on areas of concern.

3.What should StriVectin-AR do for you?
-Strengthen and build-up the skin barrier
-enhance durability
-even out skin tone
-increase radiance
-smooth out the skins texture

4.How did my skin change?
-The deep line on my forehead has diminished-its only been a few weeks-and I can barely see it anymore! ---Overall, my skin is more firm and has a bouncier feeling to it.

I was hesitant to use a Rentinol...BUT... NIA-114 will activate Retinols' age fighting powder to work harder, faster, and more efficiently while reducing sensitivity commonly associated with Retinol. I did not notice any sensitivity in my skin at all. Sigh of relief...

Try using Christian Dior's One Essential Detox Super Serum under StriVectin-AR. It will help speed up the penetration so you will see the results at an even faster speed. (I did note in my previous post that I was experiencing a breakout while using One Essential. The purging process ended, and I have had no breakout since.)

Also, now that you have this flawless complexion thanks to StriVectin. Continue using a SPF of some sort during the day to protect your skin from future damage. I am currently using DiorSnow BB Cream SPF 50. It's great because of the high sun protection + it's light weight and not greasy!

Next test...the hubby's skin! Let's see how SriVectin-AR works for him now!

change can be a good thing.

While working in the beauty industry I have noticed most people have skin concerns. Sometimes I hear people say they do not use skincare because they do not want to be perceived as high maintenance. Taking care of your skin is NOT high maintenance-It is another way of preserving your mental and physical health...AND men need skincare just as much as women do...because men have skin too!

When I hear my clients express their frustration about their skin, I want to find them a solution so they can feel better about themselves. So lets talk about convenient products for the guys and the girls to change how we view taking care of our skin!! Let's make this change an easy change!

Great for the guys: Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturizer

Pure Oat Extract

Why he loves it...

1. My hubby is not a fan of body moisturizer due to the sticky residue it can leave behind. The Vaseline Spray & Go is great for guys because it really does dry fast, and it is non-greasy!
2. Easy application for a guy on the go-Moisturizes in seconds, so you can put your clothes right on!
3. There are fragrance free options or light natural fragrance options.

Why she loves it...

It's not an intimidating product so it will be used over and over again-no more dry skin for your main man! He may even go out and replenish it on his own (mine did, so there's hope for yours too!

Great for the girls: DiorSnow UV Protection BB Creme

Color "020"

Why she loves it...

1. The sun protection is an SPF 50, yet it feels light weight and does not smell like sunscreen!
2. Acts as a primer-it wears well on the skin without separating, oxidation, or getting greasy.
3. If you are running late it can act as a moisturizer! *However, I would still recommend using a moisturizer first on a regular basis.
4. Sheer, medium, or full coverage based on how much you use or how you apply it (Lately I have been using 2 pumps and applying it with just my fingers).

Why he loves it...

It's time saver, you will not have to apply multiple products to achieve a flawless complexion. He won't be waiting for you to get ready alllll day-you may even finish before he does on some days! What? I know! It is the truth ladies!

I Just Want to be Tan!

Special events usually require getting fancy and wearing a dress-it also means there's going to be a lot of pictures so those memories can last forever! With that being said...I like my skin to be a bit more golden when I have parties to attend.

Here's what I did to enhance my skin's tone to look like I spent the week in the Bahamas...

 REMEMBER TO ALWAYS EXFOLIATE FIRST!!

1. Two days before my event, I used Bare Minerals Faux Tan Body Sunless Tanner
2. The night before the event, I used Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads
3. The day of the event, I mixed Nars Laguna Body Illuminator ( Or face) with my body lotion

...ALWAYS hydrate the skin with a moisturizer to ensure the skin looks dewy and healthy!

Hair by Danielle Derksen
My hair has visited every trend...and while highlights around my face warm up my skin the Hubby prefers my hair rich and dark (which makes me feel more pale).
Danielle did a subtle balayage technique on my head this week-and I've never felt sexier!

It's timeless. I love it. He loves it.

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss-Game Changer

There are a few colors that may remind you of tropical paradise like teals, yellows, and corals. Those colors will always compliment the skin and give the illusion of a deeper tan!

1. Great Nail colors to enhance the skin tone include white, coral, and bronze, and gold/yellow.
2. Lips and cheeks are another way to amp up your tan... I would use anything with a warm undertone! Think yellow/orange or red/orange undertones as well as warm browns (not cool browns that look more mauve).

False Lashes by Ardell
When I use false lashes I always grab black! I never thought to change it up with my falsies and use brown! It's softer and more day time appropriate (great for a girlfriend's bridal or baby shower).

It's also a great way to warm up my skin

because...

it pulled out a little bit of green in my hazel eyes!

How to achieve Taylor's Daytime Look:

1. Prep skin with BareMinerals Buxom Divine Goddess Luminizer, concentrating the product under the eye area and onto the cheeks... use whats left around the lips and on the tops of the brows with your fingers.
2. Correct any darkness under the eyes with Giorgio Armani's Master Corrector and conceal with Estee Lauder's Double Wear Concealer.
3.  Perfect the skin using Christian Dior's Airflash. Learn how to apply it here.
4. Set any oily areas (mainly the T-Zone and under the chin) with a loose translucent powder.
5. Pink Blush always offers a youthful look, I used BareMinerals Ready Blush in The Tease to create structure and add some life to the complexion.
6. Eyebrows were a main focus for this styled video. I lined the brow with Dior's Universal Brow Styler and than set  the brow with Bobbi Brown's Brow kit for a softer, yet fuller look.
7. The eyes were clean and fresh, using only neutral tones from Dior's 5 Couleurs Pallette, Incognito.
8. Always match your blush's undertone with your lip color's undertone: Taylor is wearing Pink Plaid by MAC.

How to achieve Taylor's Luxury Event/Evening Look:

1. Take the first look from day to night by adding just a few extra steps!!!
2. Add drama to the eyes, and channel the 1960's with a winged liner... learn step by step here! Also, add a beige/taupe blending color in the crease. This will add a nice soft shadow to compliment the liner.
3. Apply False Lashes for extra oomph!
4. Tone down the pink blush with a little bit of foundation...and use a soft matte bronzer for a contoured look. Highlight the top of the cheekbones for a subtle glow using BareMinerals Flawless Radiance.
5. Blot your lips, and go for a nude! I created my own color mixing together a couple of glosses to achieve this peachy-nude. The main gloss was Feathered (LipTar) by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics to make it a creamier texture.

Emerald Green

Happy St. Patty's Day!!! In honor of the holiday, I thought I'd share some images from a lovely photoshoot with Photographer Christina Smith. Adding color to your wardrobe is easiest with eyeliner, eyeshadow, or nail polish. If you adore color, apply it to the entire lid-and soften the crease with a neutral blending color. Go easy on the cheeks and lips! If color is a bit scary for ya, just line the bottom lash line! Try amping it up with a bold lip!!
