Makeup on The Runway {Sarah Seven}

This years Lab Event was glamorous and full of lots of inspiring ideas-it exceeded all my expectations yet again. I had the pleasure of spending the morning with Julia from Gal Meets Glam, editor Angela Tafoya from Refinery 29, Anne writer at The City Sage, and Krystal writer of This Time Tomorrow. They were our runway models for the event, showing off some glittery pieces designed by Sarah Seven.

The inspiration for the bridal looks were clean skin, lined eyes and full lashes, bold lips, and top knots for the hair. It was a long day, so I used alot of primers and hairspray to ensure the girls looked like perfection for the entire party! I'd love to see more brides attempt this look this year-it's girly, refreshing, and fun!!! Of course, these looks are great for a night out with girlfriends-or even for a romantic dinner for Valentines!

Azure Waters

Azure is so rich and elegant, it's the hue halfway between blue and cyan. My new Yves Saint Laurent 'Dessin du Regard Waterproof' Eye Pencil takes me on a {much needed} journey. Here's my imaginary setting: I'm in tropical paradise, absorbing the beauty of the water, and soaking in the sun. I think to myself, I need to take a dip in the water just to cool off...great thing I have a waterproof eyeliner on. OK, OK, baack to reality.

Foundation: Estee Lauder DayWear Anti-Oxidant BB Creme SPF 35
Earrings by H&M
While one may feel the eyeliner is a bit steep in price at $28, it's proven it's quality to me. I applied my makeup in the morning before I left to work with a bride on her special day... I was waiting for it to transfer in my crease, or diminish in color, but it stayed in place till the evening! Yeaa, finally an eyeliner that does what it says. Pros: 1. No need to tug on skin to apply product, it glides on very easily. 2. It promises to last for 16 hours. 3. The pigment is intense! Cons: 1. I noticed the pencil wore down fast as I applied, so I'm assuming it will run out sooner than later.

I made the eyes my focus, by using a neutral peach lip color. MAC's new collection 'Hey Sailor' launched this week so I indulged myself in a few new items, like Salute lipstick. Dust on a light bronzer and wha-la you too can come with me on my imaginary vacation. Cabo is certainly calling my name...

Happy Memorial Day weekend friends! Any fun plans???

Taylor & Joey's Engagement Photos

Back in the day...Taylor and I met each other while working at Abercrombie & Fitch. She was my manager, and she will tell you my only flaw as an employee was that I wore way too much makeup! Little did we know, I would be doing her makeup for her wedding one day.

Over the years, I have perfected the "Taylor" look: She has always favored bright pink gloss over anything else, and she loves having a little wing to her eyeliner. On the day of her engagement session, Taylor came prepared for her makeup application with an image she wanted me to recreate. My first instinct after seeing the images, was to apply Sasha Lashes by FAUX. Definition is super important in photos, and the blend of black and brown makes Taylor's eyes stand out even from afar! Online classes in cosmetology are available if you want to learn more tricks, tips, and trends.

My main goal was to give Taylor clean, flawless skin. You too can achieve perfect skin with these simple steps:

1. Primer was essential since the shoot was in San Francisco, so I first prepped the skin with a pea size of Laura Mercier's oil free foundation primer (entire face).
2. For a soft glow, I blended Laura Mercier's Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer in Natural Radiance on her cheeks, under her eyes and a bit on the T-zone.
3. I used Benefit's Play stick like a concealer and foundation.
4. To brighten under the eye, I used YSL's Touche Eclat #2
5. To perfect the skin, I pressed Dior's Airflash over her cheeks and a bit on the nose. (application demonstrated here.)

Since we went bold with the lashes, I kept the eyeshadow classic and sophisticated by using neutral tones.

1. Truth by Bare Escentuals (seen here)
2. Bobbi Brown's Gel Liner (seen here)
3. White eyeliner in the water line (like this one)

I love this girl SO much...and I am so happy she is marrying Joey-He is one of the sweetest guys I know. I cannot wait for your wedding... thank you for allowing me to share in your memories on this special day.

Berry Christmas

Remember last year when I told you we cut down our own tree? Well, it's now an official tradition-because we did it again! This year, we spent some time searching for the perfect ornaments too. I found some great pieces at Anthropologie, Z Gallerie, and Restoration Hardware. Surprisingly, Cost Plus had the most options-and the best prices!

As I write this post, I had a realization...I have been wearing ALOT of Berry hues, and ALOT of YSL product. I can't get enough of this beautiful, festive color! You can wear it on your cheeks, lips, nails, eyes, clothes...everything! Same goes for YSL!

Nail Polish by Chanel
Yves Saint Laurent 'Ombres Duolumieres #21 is my latest obsession. The Intense Plum fits flawlessly into the crease...I love a shadow that blends with ease. Line the eyes with Bobbi Brown's Black Ink Gel Liner seen here, and finish with YSL's Shocking Mascara seen here. Sadly, I think they have discontinued my favorite YSL Golden Gloss #8, but any mauve or berry tone will do for this look!

Here's to a Berry Christmas!

Get unStuck

Life can become routine: sleep, eat, work... In the midst of your daily routines, you become comfortable with having the same food, watching the same TV show...and repeating the same steps to your beauty ritual. Any type of curve-ball gets most in a frenzy, especially when your favorite product is discontinued-horrible I know. Lately, I have been feeling kind of "stuck" in my week. So I am going to challenge myself to get unStuck.

1.Mascara is the easiest way to get unStuck from your beauty routine. You need to replenish this product so often, why not try something new....and SHOCKING! I love the smell of YSL...and the length it provides is a little crazy!

2.While technology is the future, I am hesitant to join the crowd but an ipad is the perfect way to showcase my portfolio. I will be facing my fear of trying something new, with a Tory Burch to help guide me.

3. I always do my own manicures, I've been inspired to create designs with Sally Hansen's Nail Art Pen.

4. My goal is for my hubby to try new things too-pedicures at the spa with me! I am going to learn how to use a cuticle trimmer in the meantime for at home maintinence.

5. I needed to re-vamp my color and have had no time to visit my friend's salon....This NEW formula by Garnier only takes 10 minutes. Time saver, yes please! ...and I noticed it did not stain by sink like some have in the past.

6.I've been intrigued with styling my hair more, so these small Conair clear poly bands are perfect to assist me.

7.Whole foods gets me into trouble...and for some reason they decided to put a beauty isle next to the dairy. Pistachio Foot Repair Cream has been starring at me for a few weeks now. It was under $8 so I decided to give it a go. It's hydrating and has a oilier texture than a normal lotion or cream.

Are you stuck in a rut? What new things have you tried lately?

XOXO

Wants of the Weekend

Holidays are upon us! That means NEW products are here!!! While some are limited edition, some are still from the Fall collections. I am excited for the upcoming parties with family, social gatherings with friends, and another year celebrating with my hubby.

2.Yves Saint Laurent 'Rouge Volupté Pearl' Lipstick in 112 Spellbinding Violet - The Midnight Garden Fall Collection is so beautiful and these past months you will consistently find a deep plum lip color in my handbag...this is darker and more purple than anything I own thus far.

3. Nars Trio Eyeshadow in Arabian Nights - Nars, National Makeup Stylist, Janice Daoud tweeted about this palette the other day and these are so my colors, all wrapped into one little box! You can also use these wet for a more intense look.

4. Butter London Give and Take Nail Skins - What cute addition to your outfit for Thanksgiving and into Christmas.

5. Dior 'Vernis-d'Or Collection' Nail Lacquer in Apparant 871 - This makes me think of Christmas lights, sparkly gold tights, and snowflakes....can't wait for the Holidays.

6. Bobbi Brown Party Shimmer Brick- I love a dewy finish on my skin and on my models...Bobbi's shimmer bricks are fully loaded with enough glow and this Holiday edition is just too cute!
