The Joy of Adult Acne

Over the past few months, it seems very common that majority of my friends are suffering from adult acne (not to be confused with Rosacea). Last year when we started planning our wedding I noticed a large breakout, and this annoyance is still around. Before I had the occasional pimple around "my time of the month"...I'd put some toothpaste on it and it would subside. However, my skin now transitioned into consistently having Acne.

Here are a few products I have tested, loved, stopped using...and so on...

1. I first started with Mario Badescu's Glycolic Acid Toner and popular Drying Lotion. I bought the toner because it was alcohol free, yet still effective at exfoliating with 2% Gylcolic Acid and Grapefruit Extract. I did get bored with this toner and moved to another product soon after. Do not shake the Drying Lotion, just dip a Q-Tip into the pink layer, and than apply as a spot treatment. This isn't the cutest look, since you must wear it over night...

2. The Clarisonic tools make you reconsider "clean" skin. Read about the difference here. The plus is nice for the body, but I use my Mia more frequently because it fits into my hand perfectly...and my travel bag!

3. Good ol' Clinique 3-Step!! I NEVER had a "routine" for my skincare due to my anxiousness to try new products, but I have now gone through my second purchase with 3-Step and will most likely continue to use it. The Liquid Facial Soap for Oily Skin is my formula of choice, it does not leave my skin feeling tight at all. It also pairs nicely with the Clarisonic. When I first started the Clarifying Lotion #3 it tingled! It doesn't tingle anymore, and I kinda miss it. My hubby is obsessed with this pink bottle, he uses it on his face and chest, so we go through this bottle pretty fast. Lastly, I chose the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel because I like the light feeling it offers. (Just a note, you will need more hydration this is only going to balance the skin, and there is no SPF.) Ladies, this is a perfect trio for you and your man to share!

4. Kiehl's Kiehl's Kiehl's...You have seen this Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque here before. I apply it in my T-Zone at least once a week, while I vacuum or fold laundry. It's a five minute masque, and it's my favorite masque, YES, my FAVORITE!! I use the Pore Refining Toner now and than, eventually I will try the cleanser and lotion. During the P.M I will sometimes use the Over-Night Biological Peel, this helps to reduce the look (size) of pores.

5. Ok, I found it! The one acne treatment I use too often. DDF's Acne Control Treatment. I only apply it where I need it...after my moisturizer, day and night. It drys up the acne, so make sure you are only using where and when needed. It's quite magical!!!

Once again, toothpaste is a great (cheap) remedy if you have nothing else. Aquafresh is what I would recommend.

Classy Classics

While men love a woman who can get dolled up, they secretly love the simplicity of a classic lady: French tip pedicure, red manicure, nude lips, with some black lace and pearls. This conservative look never goes out of style, it's iconic, it's classy, and it looks good on every woman.

I recently changed my hair style, to resemble the new do on Jennifer Aniston. Because I went blonder, I decided to warm up my makeup with yellow, golden tones (an early tribute to Summer).

Deborah Lippman My Old Flame Nail Lacquer
To open up my eyes, I use MAC's Fascinating Eye Kohl in my waterline.
I adore a dewy, glow to the skin. It looks healthy, and it translates perfectly in pictures. Before I applied my foundation, I placed Benefit's Moon Beam on the top of my cheek bone, and my T-zone. I lightly blended it into my skin. The use of a highlighter is a great trick to distract from dark circles too. So with that being said, I generously swiped Smashbox's Photo Op Under Eye Brightener under my eyes. After I prepped my skin with these fab highlighters, I applied my La Prairie foundation, and some Bobbi Brown Corrector

Boots with a White Dress

Sometimes the most wonderful pictures are the last few snapped before packing up the gear. Here is a teaser of a photoshoot I set up a few weeks ago with BoLee Bridal Couture, Daneille Derksen @ Salon Mona Lisa, and Ashley Maxwell Photography.

Travel Friendly

It's that time again! A Miss is going to be a Mrs. this Friday, and I get the pleasure to make her feel like a true Bride. Normally, I prep the night before, frantically packing my supplies...but since I have been so busy I have been prepping either in a week in advance, or at least a few nights beforehand. I keep my brush supply in a plastic bin, and always make sure my favorites are washed. Not only is it better hygiene, clean brushes apply makeup more effectively and evenly.
Brush Brands: Rock & Republic, MAC, Bare Essentials, Prescriptives, Smashbox, and Shu Uemura
I change my kit's color choices often, because every bridal party has a different style, so I travel with items that are specific for the individual's theme. But, I ALWAYS travel with these items:

1. Cotton
2. Q-Tips
3. Mascara Wands
4. Lip Wands

5. brush cleaner 6. makeup remover 7. facial toner 8. moisturizer 9. eye cream 10. lip exfoliator 11. lash glue 12. anti-bacterial hand cream
13. dual pencil sharpener 14. tweezers 15. eye lash curler 16. scissors

Hope your weekend is lovely! I will post pictures of the gorgeous bride as soon as I can get my hands on some pictures....I CAN'T WAIT!!

You always wear...

I was eating lunch with my co-worker today, and after we ate we pulled out our mirrors to scan our lipstick situation. Everyone has their "specific" way of application, a routine they fall in to. I mentioned to my friend..."you always choose deep lipsticks with lots of pigment." She agreed, and her reasoning was she felt her skin was too pale and the lipstick evened her coloring out. As she applied her Estee Lauder tube, I began to pull our my nude trio and proceeded to perfect my look.

I have an assortment of lipsticks, but my colors seem to be in 4 categories: Nudes, vibrant to pale pinks, bold reds, and deep burgundy.

My top brands: MAC, YSL, Smashbox

I also have: Dior, Lancome, and Bobbi Brown

"YSL" Lipstick in Pale Pinks and Vibrant Reds looks great on this gal, writer of Atlantic Pacific
"BOLD orange" comes to mind for Alicia writer of Cheetah is the New Black
When I think of Taylor, writer of Sterling Style I think "bright pink" lips.

What are your favorite colors and brands? Do your girlfriends relate a certain "color" to you?
