Bare Essentials

Radiant Skin

There are a few "Beauty" trends that are perfect for Summer. First, a BOLD coral nail color is a must! Second, a vibrant teal shadow...see here...and RADIANT SKIN!!!

Watch by Michael Kors

To create radiant skin follow these steps:

1. Cleanse, tone, and hydrate skin.
2. Prep skin with Smashbox Photofinish light to control shine.
3. Use hands to apply a pea size of Laura Mercier's Tinted Illuminating moisturizer under eyes, on cheeks, and T-zone.
4. Swipe Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener under eyes, and gently press into skin with your ring finger.
5. Hide dark circles with Bobbi Brown's Concealer.
6. Shake and than spray Dior Airflash Foundation on Bare Escentuals Heavenly Brush (no need to spray brush more than 3-4 times...you'll have enough to cover the entire face)
7. Use Smashobox's Fan brush #22  to apply Nars blush in LoveJoy. (My secret to a great contoured cheek...start application at the same angle as the top of your ear. Keep the brush closest to the hair line, and sweep brush under cheek bone to enhance your natural shape. Fluid strokes are essential!)

Wild Child at Work

My typical "Makeup Artist" work look: Hair twisted up, BIG hoops, all black attire, wedges or Tory Burch flats...LASHES and a nude lip. My go-to eye shadow is Club from MAC. It's black, brown, gold, and green depending on the lighting. It's kinda like a mood-shadow, it transitions depending on what you are wearing, or what other colors you blend with it. Over all my personal favorite foundation to work in is BareMinerals original Foundation and I have to use this brush because I like a full coverage. I prefer to "work" in this foundation because it's water resistant so I have barely any movement or necessity to touch up.

Do you have a "look" that you associate with work??

Eyebrows are my signature look, without them I feel naked!
My favorite patterns are animal prints: My wardrobe, my home decor, and now my NAILS thanks to
Sally Hansen's Wild Child Polish Strips

I've had a busy past two days, volunteering at a High School grad night, and working with Lycee J. on her music video. Stay tuned for pictures :)

senorita style

This week our household has been celebrating Cinco de Mayo with ceviche, tamales, and lots of avocados. Hmm, my favorite foods. Tomorrow we will officially celebrate with friends at a BBQ! What will you be doing?

I adore adding a twist to my "everyday" look, and bring out a little of my Latina side. I'll throw a flower in my hair, wear some hoop earrings, paint on a red lip...and wha-la I begin to feel like a Senorita!

Here are a few products appropriate for the holiday, wear them all or just try one... but I promise you feel like drinking a margarita after!

Have dull or dry skin? Use a pea size of Natural Radiance on the cheeks, forehead and nose before applying your foundation. You will notice a healthy glow shine through.

Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer-Natural Radiance
YSL Automatic Eyeliner-Green
Here's a great trick...mix a drip of water with any of these bare essential colors, and apply with a flat shadow brush! They will go on very intense, but once they dry you can blend and soften the edges.

Bare Essentials-Pussycat, Queen Phyllis, and True Gold
MAC-Russian Red Lipstick & Brick Lip Liner
Deborah Lippman- My old Flame and Chanel-317 Golden Sand

Have fun with golden tones, forest greens, and vibrant reds!!!

Packing for Vegas

I just got back from Vegas for my darling friend's Bachelorette weekend. It was my first time there, and I went with a great group of gals! We stayed in a suite at the Venetian, with the perfect sized bathroom for the 6 of us to get dolled up. Going on a trip with girls, I plan on helping with their makeup...whether it's a quick tip here and there, assistance with eye lash application or doing a complete makeover I always come prepared!

When I pack my makeup bag, I pack light compared to most artists and makeup junkies...most people are surprised with how little I bring. I have a Trish McEvoy planner, but I can't help but use my good ol'Benefit bag! Both give alot of room to store brushes and foundation bottles.

Here are some products I recommend for a trip to Vegas:

1. Anti-Shine by Smashbox will guarantee beautiful pictures (instead of sweaty pictures) at 2am, after dancing. Use a pea size after you moisturize...rub it into the skin until you feel a tug. I use mine on my T-zone and nose.

2. I just got my Estee Lauder GWP this weekend, and it came with the Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer. It was moist, yet stayed in place. It was fabulous to cover my dark circles after our long nights out...I even used it all over the face for a light day time look by the pool!

3.MAC's Studio Fix fits great into my clutch (Read about it here)offers perfect coverage, and has a mirror.

4. I touched up with my Bare Escentuals Baby Buki Brush. It's tiny, cute and travels well.

5. LASHES LASHES LASHES!! Use one at a time, double stack them...just use them!! It's not a normal occasion, so try the craziest ones!! Don't forget your lash glue!

6.Bobbi Brown's Long Wear Gel Liner in Black Ink is designed as an eye liner, however I applied it like a cream shadow...I patted MAC's Carbon eyeshadow over to intensify the smokey eye.

Here is the beautiful Soon-to-be-Mrs. after we did her makeup...

Let's Paint Some Faces

I love colors. The theory of mixing hues to create moods is so evident in the world of makeup. Makeup is painting, and your canvas is the face.

Here are a few rules to live by:

1. To enhance green eyes use purple eye colors (Try Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear Gel eyeliner in Black Plum Ink), for blue eyes use gold or brown tones (Try Yves Saint Laurent 'Ombres Duolumières' Eye Shadow Duo in Heaven Beige-Astral Brown #1), for brown tones choose green shadows, like I have on below (Nars in Blade Runner).

2.To perfect your skin, always use a foundation with the correct undertone Yellow/Orange, Red/Orange, Blue/Red, or Red. Hint: To find your undertone take a look at your veins in your wrist...are they green? You have warmer undertones. Bobbi Brown is a believer that majority of women need a warmer base. Are they blue? Than you have cooler undertones.Clinique has more options for cooler bases.

3.Your blush and lip color should always match, for ex. see what I have on below: Bare Escentuals Buxom in Amber paired with Nars Deep Throat Blush (Both having Red/Orange undertones). My dramatic option would have been to choose a Plum (Blue/Red undertone)lip color and match it with a plum(Blue/Red undertone)blush.

I was inspired by the green and orange painted wall in Santana Row, one of my favorite places to enjoy a beautiful day with my hubby.

Please ask me any questions if you need help finding your undertone on my facebook page.
