New Beginings

The Holidays have passed, and Spring Fashion Trends are here and ready to be part of our lives. Spring is so refreshing, it's a time for new beginnings. The story of Spring is military nudes, patterns galore, and vibrant hues.

Accessories are essential this season: a new bracelet should find its way into your jewlrey box, invest into some chic espadrilles, and a must is a new color palette.

My pick of the week that I have been "ooh-ing and ahh-ing" over is Laura Mercier's New Silk Road eye & cheek palette. The color choices are ideal for any age and any style. The purple is amazing! It is a must see in person kinda color! It can be a great vivaciousness contour color for the night, or it can be a simple liner to add some definition for the day.

Have fun with your makeup this Spring, it's such a fearless season-anything goes: lined eyes, tan skin, bright lips, bare eyes...possibilities are endless, just be YOU!

Happy New Years

What are your New Year's resolutions this year? I haven't given this much thought, but a few off the top of my head: 1. Start making jewelry, painting, being more creative. 2. Investigating new hobbies with James. 3. AND yes-work out more often :)

Ladies, New Year's Eve is the perfect excuse to break out the sparkle, the glitter, and be dramatic with your makeup. This past year the trends have been more "futuristic". So, embrace this trend to finish the year off right. MAC's newest launch, "Cham Pale" is the quintessence of a great New Year's Eve look. When using my other recommendations, like Dior or Bare Escentuals try wetting the brush before hand. It will make the pigment more intense, last longer, and be super fun for the night!

Hope everyone enjoyed their 2010

Peppermint Whoopie Pies

Holiday gatherings, desserts galore, and glowing makeup was constantly on my mind this week. I was determined to make time to do some baking, so I tried some new recipes. James is convinced I decided to make peppermint whoopie pies, just so I could say the word "whoopie" as I mixed up my ingredients. Really, it was because they had red filling and were covered in peppermint candies...so appropriate to pass out to the family. I will admit it was a fun word to say :)

We went to have early Christmas dinners with a few of our family members and I just didn't feel right wearing red lipstick yet, I wanted to save my red lip for Christmas Day. For those of you who aren't daring enough to break out the bright red lipstick, try this combo I did the other night: Bare Escentuals Green eyeshadow, YSL Forest Green liquid eyeliner, Bare Escentuals Pure Radiance to highlight the skin, Laura Mercier Mineral cheek powder in amberstone, Bobbi Brown Naked lip liner (all over the lips) finished with Bare Escentuals Amber Buxom.

Guns and other pretty things...

In another life, I would definitely be an interior decorator. I love designing a livable yet fashionable home, and taking a step back to admire my work. For this lifetime, I will stick to "nesting" in my own home. Since James and I moved in together, I got rid of all my pink appliances and opted for black...we also went from my cheetah towels to our new gray ones...and yes, the bed went from cheetah to gray as well ;) I'm trying to make the house "ours" so I have begun to investigate in more unisex colors like, royal blue and red. One thing we have in common though is we both enjoy having art on the walls. Our most recent purchase was "Guns" from the Z Gallerie by Andy Warhol. A very unique piece, yet so us. We tend to gravitate to more modern, pop art. Recently, I stumbled across this adorable gal: Emma Kristina Hultkrantz, who is an illustrator. I would love to decorate one bathroom super chic and girly, and since I loooove makeup her art would be a great focal piece. Check out Emmakisstina on Etsy to purchase some of her masterpieces.

Here are a few on my wish list...

These are great stocking stuffers for the makeup junkies on your Christmas shopping list.(Pocket Mirrors $6)
